Priory View Pre-School

February 2022 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are very proud of the way that all of our wonderful children have settled back into the preschool routines following the excitement of Christmas. It’s great to be back.

Please read our newsletter carefully as there are some exciting new developments on the way!

Afternoon Sessions

Within our January newsletter we outlined that spaces at the pre-school are becoming very popular and therefore very limited and we are considering the possibility of opening for three extra sessions during the week, which will be in the afternoons.

To see if it would be financially viable for us we sent out a questionnaire to you all to gain your views and see what interest there would be in these extra sessions.

If you haven’t replied already, please could we ask you to complete and return this as soon as possible to enable us to plan. Required extra sessions will be offered after the Easter holidays. We will inform you as necessary. Please ask for another questionnaire if necessary.

Curiosity and Wonder – Come and Visit us

As COVID guidelines begin to relax and we continue our journey to achieve a recognised Accreditation with ‘The Curiosity Approach’., we would like to offer you all the opportunity to come into the Preschool and to spend some time with your child and their Key Person. These visits will begin after our February Half term break (On Tuesday 1st March 2022).

This will enable you to chat with your child’s Key Person and to work together with them to ensure that your child feels known, understood, cared about, and safe within our setting.

As a staff team, we have been reflecting on the learning environment that our Pre-School offers to your little ones and we are now on a journey to make it the absolute best that it can be. We are so excited to now be able to involve you with our journey.

We want your children to be safe, happy, and to learn through play whilst having fun. We want them to play and learn daily in both the inside and outside environments.

To remain COVID cautious, we will organise the visits by appointment, one adult per session (other family members are very welcome to make appointments on different days).

Appointments will be from 9am to 9.30am Tuesdays to Fridays. You will be able to come in with your child at the beginning of the session.

Please see Christine so that we can make an appointment for you to visit.

We continue to adhere to Government guidelines.

  • Face coverings: In line with the wider easing of Covid-19 restrictions, the guidance states that: "From 27 January 2022, face coverings should are no longer advised to be worn when moving around the premises, outside of areas where adults are working with children, such as in corridors and communal areas."
  • Anyone, regardless of age, with any of the three key COVID-19 symptoms should self-isolate at home. children are to return to their education setting as soon as self-isolation guidance allows (i.e. on day 6 of isolation at the earliest) and this includes all children aged 0-4 years.
  • Place Prioritisation: In the (hopefully unlikely) event that there are high levels of staff absence at the Preschool, we will remain open, but we do need to prepare ourselves that our early years setting may need to restrict attendance due to ensuring safe adult: child ratios:

Government Guidance states that priority should be given to

1) children of critical workers, and vulnerable children,

2) three- and four-year-olds, in particular those who will be transitioning to reception;

3) younger age groups.

Spring Term Holiday Dates

February Half Term Holiday – Monday 21st February to Friday 25th February 2022

Easter Holidays – Monday 11th April to Friday 22nd April 2022

Please bring your child to preschool in clothing that is very warm and definitely not precious – they will get dirty but they are having fun and learning

We are very passionate about our cosy, homely provision and as a staff team we pride ourselves on offering our wonderful families a natural, authentic, safe, traditional preschool environment. Therefore, unlike many other preschool settings, we feel that in the current climate there is often an over reliance on modern technology to record and observe children and this can take us away from the joy of playing, interacting and being with our children.

We continue to record your children’s learning journey with us using photographs and ‘Wow Moments’ and you will receive a precious keepsake of memories as your child takes their steps into ‘big school’.

Our door is always open for any worries so please just ask for help if you need to.

Thank you, take care and continue to stay safe.

Kind Regards

Vicky and The Priory View Team
