Dear Parents/Carers,

It hardly seems possible, but we are beginning to make arrangements for our leavers here at Priory View.

Frasier Photographers will be coming into the Pre-school on Wednesday,

26thJune at 11.00 am to take our leavers’ photograph which will be available to buy as a lovely keepsake of their time with us.

We have also started making plans for our leavers’ party and ceremony which will take place on the last day of term – Friday, 19thJuly, 2019.  The party starts at 9.00am, and then at 11.30am we will be holding our leavers’ ceremony in the Church where you can come along and see your child being presented with their individual learning journey.

Please be aware that the party is for leavers onlyso, if your child normally attends on a Friday but is not leaving us, please speak to a member of staff and we will arrange an alternative session for them.  If your school leaver does not normally attend on a Friday we can also swap a session for them – or you are welcome to pay the session fee of 16.50 for that day.  Please note that there willbe no lunch club on that day.   We will be putting a party food list in the outer hall nearer the time and would be grateful if you could chose an item for your child to bring in to share on the day.

The last day of term is on Friday, 19thJuly and we return on Monday, 2ndSeptember.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Christmas is just around the corner and we are starting to make plans here at Priory View! We are pleased to let you know that we will be holding our popular Nativity Service in the Church on Monday, 10th December, starting at 11.30 am. All are welcome and we would ask that each child has at least one parent/carer present. We have quite a few younger/new children who may find this challenging – but those of you who have been to one our Nativities in the past will know that they are very casual, informal occasions where the children can dress up as various roles and we can all sing along to some Christmas songs! If you do not want your child to take part in the Nativity then please talk to a member of staff. If your child does not normally attend on a Monday and you would like them to be included, please bring them along at around 11.20am on that morning, dressed in their outfit. A bit nearer the time we will send out a more detailed letter and put a sign in the Entrance Hall setting out roles etc.

Our Christmas Party will be on the last day of term – Friday, 14th December starting at 9.00 am and all the children are invited! If your child does not normally attend on a Friday you are welcome to swap a session or pay the session fee of £15 – please speak to a member of staff. We will put a food list in the Entrance Hall nearer the time.

Please note that there will be NO LUNCH CLUB on Monday, 10th December and Friday, 14th December – both sessions finish at 12 noon.

Frasier Photographers will be visiting on Tuesday, 27th November. If your child does not normally attend on a Tuesday and you don’t want to miss out on some fabulous photos in time for Christmas, or you would like siblings included etc, please come along at 9.15 am on that day.

The last day of term is Friday, 14th December and we return on Monday, 7th January, 2019. For your information, Spring half term is from 18-22nd February and we break up for Easter on Friday, 5th April, returning on Tuesday, 23rd April.

Good luck with all your Christmas preparations!!

Dear Parents/Carers,

Just to let you know that the pre-school is once again supporting the Church with the collection of food for this year’s Harvest Festival. This food will be donated to the local food bank. Please look for the basket in the front hall if you would like to help us. We will make a display of any donations with the children, talking about sharing, giving and the fact that this food is going to help people.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to pre-school after the Summer holidays – we hope you all had a great time and enjoyed the fantastic weather!

We have been reviewing our procedure for when you collect you child at the end of session. This is a very busy time with some children going home and some staying for our lunch club. To ensure that all the children are safe and supervised at this time we would ask you not to enter the hall but to wait with the member of staff at the door who will call your child to you. Another member of staff will support your child with this process if needed and hand any work over to you. If you would like to speak to a member of staff for any reason then they will be only too happy to see you in the outer hall once all the children have been called. We hope you all understand the need for this as, obviously, your child’s safety is of the most paramount importance to us and we thank you for your support with this.

Don’t forget to let us know in the morning if your child is going to be absent from pre-school. In accordance with good safeguarding practice we are obligated to inform the Early Years Service about inexplicable absences.

We would like to remind you about our WOW board in the entrance hall. We would love your suggestions for future topics so we can accommodate your child’s interests – or if you would like us to focus on any festivals or celebrations which may be relevant to your child – just pop a note on the board!

Could we also remind you to mark you child’s name clearly on all items brought into the setting – especially on bags – this is a great help to us!

Don’t forget to ‘like’ our Facebook page and spread the word about Priory View with your friends!

For your information, we break up for half term on Friday, 19th October and return on Monday, 29th October. The last day of term is Friday, 14th December.

Many thanks – The Priory View Team.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are really pleased to let you know that we are planning to visit the New Leaf Allotment in Muscliff again this Summer and this will take place on Monday, 2nd July from 10.30 until approx. 1.30 p.m. Those of you who came last year will know how much fun the children had - going on bug hunts, planting seeds, watering, making bug hotels and generally exploring the natural environment. We will also have lunch together in the orchard so please bring a picnic (and wet wipes!).

All children need to be accompanied by an adult and will be your responsibility during our visit. As this is a working, very rural allotment you need to be aware of uneven/muddy ground, ponds etc. There is even a compost loo (but don’t’ let that put you off – it is like a normal loo but with sawdust instead of a flush)!! We also need to ensure that growing plants, various flower beds, volunteers who may be working at the allotment etc are respected so it is essential that your child is supervised at all times. However, this is a fabulous opportunity for the children to see vegetables and fruit growing in a really natural environment, especially as we have been growing and nurturing our own plants here at Priory View!

As this is such a rural location please be aware that there is no parking on-site – there are roads where you can park nearby. You will find a map on the reverse of this letter. There is an entrance to the allotment at the back of the orchard – it can be accessed via the footpath near the rear of Muscliffe park. Walk along Muscliffe Lane, pass the Epiphany school, cross Aragon Way and the footpath is on your right. Walk along the footpath for a few minutes and the gate to the allotment is on the left-hand side. Alternatively you can keep going along Muscliffe Lane until you reach the front entrance of the allotment. We will put some signs up this year to make it easier to find us!

Please complete this slip and let us know whether you will be coming or not on our trip – this will enable us to plan our activities and resources. Please be aware that the pre-school will be closed on this day.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to pre-school after the Easter break – unfortunately the weather was not very good but, hopefully, this is improving and we will be able to spend lots of time in our gardens here at Priory View. Our nature garden is hugely popular with the children – they love the mud kitchen and using spades/spoons etc to explore the various areas – but please be aware that this freedom to explore can mean that they can get grubby – so please don’t put your child in their Sunday best! As it gets warmer, don’t forget to put suncream on your child and provide a named sunhat. We would also like to remind you to make sure your child’s name is marked clearly on the outside of bags and backpacks.

We are very proud to let you know that two members of staff here at Priory View recently received a nomination for Pre-school Worker of the Year in the recent Early Years Sector Awards! This is a yearly event where parents can nominate staff who they feel deserve a special mention and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents who made these nominations.

If you haven’t done so already – please ‘like’ our new facebook page. This has proved very popular and parents can keep up to date with information and view photos that we post of the children’s activities etc. It is also a good way for us to spread the word about Priory View – if you know of any parents who are looking for childcare in September, perhaps you could tell them about our facebook page.

Please be aware that we are closed on Monday, 7th May for the Bank Holiday and that half term is from Monday, 28th May – Friday 1st June.

Thank you!

The Priory View Team
