Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to pre-school after the Summer holidays – we hope you all had a great time and enjoyed the fantastic weather!

We have been reviewing our procedure for when you collect you child at the end of session. This is a very busy time with some children going home and some staying for our lunch club. To ensure that all the children are safe and supervised at this time we would ask you not to enter the hall but to wait with the member of staff at the door who will call your child to you. Another member of staff will support your child with this process if needed and hand any work over to you. If you would like to speak to a member of staff for any reason then they will be only too happy to see you in the outer hall once all the children have been called. We hope you all understand the need for this as, obviously, your child’s safety is of the most paramount importance to us and we thank you for your support with this.

Don’t forget to let us know in the morning if your child is going to be absent from pre-school. In accordance with good safeguarding practice we are obligated to inform the Early Years Service about inexplicable absences.

We would like to remind you about our WOW board in the entrance hall. We would love your suggestions for future topics so we can accommodate your child’s interests – or if you would like us to focus on any festivals or celebrations which may be relevant to your child – just pop a note on the board!

Could we also remind you to mark you child’s name clearly on all items brought into the setting – especially on bags – this is a great help to us!

Don’t forget to ‘like’ our Facebook page and spread the word about Priory View with your friends!

For your information, we break up for half term on Friday, 19th October and return on Monday, 29th October. The last day of term is Friday, 14th December.

Many thanks – The Priory View Team.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are really pleased to let you know that we are planning to visit the New Leaf Allotment in Muscliff again this Summer and this will take place on Monday, 2nd July from 10.30 until approx. 1.30 p.m. Those of you who came last year will know how much fun the children had - going on bug hunts, planting seeds, watering, making bug hotels and generally exploring the natural environment. We will also have lunch together in the orchard so please bring a picnic (and wet wipes!).

All children need to be accompanied by an adult and will be your responsibility during our visit. As this is a working, very rural allotment you need to be aware of uneven/muddy ground, ponds etc. There is even a compost loo (but don’t’ let that put you off – it is like a normal loo but with sawdust instead of a flush)!! We also need to ensure that growing plants, various flower beds, volunteers who may be working at the allotment etc are respected so it is essential that your child is supervised at all times. However, this is a fabulous opportunity for the children to see vegetables and fruit growing in a really natural environment, especially as we have been growing and nurturing our own plants here at Priory View!

As this is such a rural location please be aware that there is no parking on-site – there are roads where you can park nearby. You will find a map on the reverse of this letter. There is an entrance to the allotment at the back of the orchard – it can be accessed via the footpath near the rear of Muscliffe park. Walk along Muscliffe Lane, pass the Epiphany school, cross Aragon Way and the footpath is on your right. Walk along the footpath for a few minutes and the gate to the allotment is on the left-hand side. Alternatively you can keep going along Muscliffe Lane until you reach the front entrance of the allotment. We will put some signs up this year to make it easier to find us!

Please complete this slip and let us know whether you will be coming or not on our trip – this will enable us to plan our activities and resources. Please be aware that the pre-school will be closed on this day.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to pre-school after the Easter break – unfortunately the weather was not very good but, hopefully, this is improving and we will be able to spend lots of time in our gardens here at Priory View. Our nature garden is hugely popular with the children – they love the mud kitchen and using spades/spoons etc to explore the various areas – but please be aware that this freedom to explore can mean that they can get grubby – so please don’t put your child in their Sunday best! As it gets warmer, don’t forget to put suncream on your child and provide a named sunhat. We would also like to remind you to make sure your child’s name is marked clearly on the outside of bags and backpacks.

We are very proud to let you know that two members of staff here at Priory View recently received a nomination for Pre-school Worker of the Year in the recent Early Years Sector Awards! This is a yearly event where parents can nominate staff who they feel deserve a special mention and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents who made these nominations.

If you haven’t done so already – please ‘like’ our new facebook page. This has proved very popular and parents can keep up to date with information and view photos that we post of the children’s activities etc. It is also a good way for us to spread the word about Priory View – if you know of any parents who are looking for childcare in September, perhaps you could tell them about our facebook page.

Please be aware that we are closed on Monday, 7th May for the Bank Holiday and that half term is from Monday, 28th May – Friday 1st June.

Thank you!

The Priory View Team

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to all of our parents who have ‘liked’ our new Facebook page and for some wonderful reviews. We have found that this is a great way of keeping you informed and up to date on a regular basis and has allowed us to share some great photos of what topics and themes we have been focussing on. We can update the page with any last minute information so, if you haven’t already done so, please ‘like’ our page today!

It is World Book Day on Thursday, 1st March and we would like to involve the children by inviting them to come to pre-school in fancy dress during this week. Also, if they have a favourite book, perhaps they would like to bring it into pre-school to share.

We break up for Easter on Thursday, 29th March returning on Monday, 16th April. The last day of the Summer Term is on Friday 20th July.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to pre-school.  We hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

We would like to let you know that we have launched a Priory View facebook page. It would be very much appreciated if you could ‘like’ our page and write a review for us. This will help us promote our pre-school and also keep you informed and up to date on a regular basis. We are hoping that lots of friends will share our page and spread the word about Priory View!

We have recently changed our policy about topics and themes. Instead of having a detailed timetable of topics, we are going to be more relaxed about our planning to take account of our children’s interests and offer more child initiated activities.  This is where you can help us!   We would love to accommodate your child’s wishes so please take advantage of our WOW board in the entrance hall.  This is an opportunity for you to let us know of any topics, activities, festivals etc that you would like us to focus on.  Ideas in the past have included dinosaurs, cars and messy play so please let us know your ideas - we are open to suggestions!

Could we remind you to keep us informed of any changes of telephone contact numbers (including emergency contacts), allergy information etc, so we can make sure our records are up to date. Also, if you have forgotten your password please speak to a member of staff for a reminder. Anyone picking up your child on your behalf will not be able to unless they have the password.

Don’t forget that you can now pay your child’s fees online via bank transfer.  If you are interested in this option, please speak to a member of staff.

Finally, we break up for half term on Friday, 9th February, returning on Monday, 19th February. The last day of term is on Thursday, 29th March. We return for the Summer term on Monday, 16th April.

Many thanks.

We have now had an opportunity to talk to the children about our forthcoming Nativity and they are becoming familiar with our Christmas songs….. no doubt you are too!! It would be lovely if you could join in with the singing during the Nativity – the words will be on a screen at the front of the Church.

We have allocated the various roles and you will find a list on the notice board in the front entrance. If your child is an angel or a shepherd it would be great if you could provide an outfit for them……past experience has shown that you can achieve a good shepherd effect with a tea towel and a dressing gown!!  Costumes will be provided for main roles…..please speak to a member of staff if you have any queries.

You will also find a food list for the Christmas Party in the entrance hall. We would be grateful if each child could bring an item of food with them to share at the party – there are a few ideas on the list so you can put your child’s name next to the item you would like to bring.  Please feel free to put down your own ideas.

Finally, could we remind you that there will be no lunch club on Monday, 11th December (Nativity) and Friday, 15th December (Christmas Party) when we will be finishing at 12 noon.

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you when we return on Monday, 8th January 2018!

Kind regards,
