We are just writing to let you know that the Speech and Language Service are trialling ‘Drop-in Clinics’ during Children Centre universal Stay and Play sessions during November and December.   These drop-in clinics are for any parents to access if they are at all concerned about their child’s speech, language or communication skills.

You just need to register with the Children’s Centre and you will then be able to talk to the Speech and Language Therapist within the stay and play session, without the need to be added to a waiting list for an initial conversation.

The dates and times of these sessions are set out below.

Stokewood and Winton Children’s Centre (01202 539591) - 2nd November 2016 - 9.30-11.00 am

Queen’s Park Children’s Centre (01202 519727) - 2nd November 2016 - 1.00-3.00pm

Townsend Children’s Centre (01202 720472)
7th November 2016 - 9.30-11.00 am
5th December 2016       9.30-11.00 am

Various other Bournemouth Children’s Centres are holding Speech and Language Drop-in Clinics and a full list can be found on the information table in the front hall.

Many thanks.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to pre-school after the summer break.  What fantastic weather we had – hope you all had a great time!

Could we ask you to make sure you mark your child’s name clearly on all the items they bring into the setting – it can be very time consuming trying to identify the children’s belongings.

We would also ask you not to leave items in the entrance hall as we seem to have a lot of scooters, bikes etc which get in the way when we need to use this space.

If your child was with us last term, please let us know if any of your details have changed… telephone numbers, emergency contacts etc, to enable us to update our records.

Next week (week beginning 12th September) we will be starting a new topic – All About Me.  This will help us get to know your child and will be a good opportunity for them to get to know each other, form a sense of belonging and think about emotions etc.

For your information the term dates are as follows….. We break up for half term on Friday 21st October and return on Monday 31st October 2016.  The last day of term will be on Friday 16th December. We have already been asked for the date of the Nativity so for your information we are planning to hold it on Monday, 12th December!

Kind regards,

We are pleased to let you know that arrangements have now been confirmed for our planned trip to the New Leaf Allotment in Throop.  This will take place on Tuesday, 5th July, from 10.30 until approx. 1.30pm.

All children need to be accompanied by an adult and will be your responsibility during our visit.  We would like to let you know that this is a very rural (be warned – it’s a compost loo!!) working allotment and you need to be aware of tools, uneven/ muddy ground,  ponds etc.   We also need to ensure that the growing plants, various flower beds, volunteers who may be working at the allotment etc are respected so it is essential that your child is supervised at all times.  However, this is a great opportunity for the children to see vegetables and fruit growing in a really natural environment, especially as our topic last term was growing and we have been nurturing our own plants!

We aim to have a fun trip with an opportunity to appreciate the natural environment.  Please bring a picnic with you – we are hoping to have it in the orchard!! (Don’t forget the wet wipes!!).

As this is such a rural location please be aware that there is no parking on-site – there are roads nearby and these are highlighted on the map on the reverse of this letter- the allotment can be reached by a 5 minute walk along Musliffe Lane.

Please click here to download the letter so that you can complete and sign the attached slip.
